Random Things about Me
I
originally posted this as a Facebook entry, but thought that some of you
non-Facebook users might like to read it as well. I did this in early
March.
1.
I'm married to Ray Hyer for 13 years now. We're good for each other. He
will probably not ever come on FB. He's not into class reunions either.
2. We don't have children and I'm OK with that. I'm content.
3. I'm absolutely nuts about music. I don't get paid to do it. I do wish
I'd have gotten a music ed. degree at an earlier point in my life or the
music therapy that is a more recent development.
4. The instruments that I currently play are clarinet, bass clarinet,
flute and alto sax. I can also do very little piano and trombone (a long
time ago). The first 4 are plenty much to keep up with practicing.
5. I work full-time and enjoy my job for the most part.
6. My job is with a TPA for The Salvation Army. I do some risk managment
work, screening drivers and a bit of this, that and everything else.
7. I want to start a picture a day again on our website starting on my
birthday this year. As I cruise toward the big 50 it would be cool to
get into photography again. My husband thinks that the music stole his
photo buddy away. OK, I guess it did. Never too late to do something
new. Again.
8. The groups that I currently make music with are The Chapel Orchestra,
Highest Praise flute choir and Akron Pops Orchestra.
9. I didn't learn to play the sax or flute or piano until after my 40th
BD. It CAN be done.
10. I have learned to not be a perfectionist but to shoot for excellence
in all I do. A far more attainable goal.
11. I have learned to forgive my mistakes. I can't really take them back
now, can I?
12. I want to try a vegi garden this year. I've never done that before.
My mom has though and I have a neighbor that's a super gardener so maybe
I'll do OK.
13. If any of you all are smart about gardening, I'll be glad to take
some tips!
14. One of these days, I'd like to go on a missions trip to somewhere.
I'm not sure what I've got to offer them, but for now I'm happy to
support others who can go.
15. The music of choice to listen to is COUNTRY! Brad Paisley, Keith
Urban, Alan Jackson...etc. I also like older jazz, any movie music by
John Williams, etc.,etc.
16. If it wasn't for Ray, I would probably never know what is going on
in the world. Can you say talk radio and news junkie? He's always saying
to me "Have you heard about..." and I'll say no...
17. I've turned into a FB junkie. Can you tell? It's a good thing I
never was a drinker. I probably have an addictive personality.
18. I have 4 cats. At least they don't need a babysitter.
19. The cats get along most of the time and remind me that sometimes
real friendships take a bit of work.
20. I want to do some writing on our website too. Ray has done a few
essays which are good. He's always been one to keep a journal. I can't
do the journal thing. I get too negative and don't want to write that
stuff down permanently.
21. I believe that it's good to serve at church and in the community.
Maybe that comes from growing up in a Baptist church where it was the
thing to do. I still think it's good to give something back.
22. I have a brother who is a year younger than me. He is a husband and
father of 3 and grandpa of 1 already. His granddaughter is really cute!
23. I'm glad that my niece Susan is going to college.
24. I'm glad that my parents are still around and healthy. I should see
them more.
25. I like to cook and watch the Food Network. So thankful for the
30-minute meal though!
